The Melanesian Institute's main aim is to study the Melanesian socio-cultural context, both in its traditional and changing forms. It does this by means of anthropology, sociology and other related fields. These research studies increase the understanding of the themes and issues that are enhancing or hindering the lives of people in Melanesia. We want to promote not merely the study of human sciences, but how they can be made useful to enrich daily lives.
