This book attempts to bring to light the increasing problems associated with the accusations of sorcery and witchcraft, witch hunts, trials, torture, and brutal killings in PNG.

This Point issue discusses the cultural and religious significance of the land to the people of the New Guinea Islands Region of Papua New Guinea.

Alive in Christ: The Synod for Oceania and the Catholic Church in Papua New Guinea 1998-2005
Edited by Phillip Gibbs
Published in 2006

Alive in Christ documents recent developments in the Catholic Church in PNG, starting with the Special Synod for Oceania in 1998, and its aftermath in the General Assembly of the Catholic Church in PNG.

Chapter Nine is made of 21 reflections that were written during a series of writers' workshops held in various parts of PNG during 2005. Eleven women and ten men, each in their own way, fashion a local narrative theology using the vision of Church from the General Assembly's motto "We are Church Alive in Christ". Through their stories the writers offer valuable insights into the varied life journeys of people in Papua New Guinea today.
